1941
- The first accommodation
house was built by Norra Real, a high school in
Stockholm that wanted a
year around recreation venue for pupils and
teachers. It was named
Realgården and kept until 1962.
1962 -
The venue
was bought by Skid- och Friluftsfrämjandet.
Friluftsfrämjandet is a voluntary, non
political, non profit, non
religious and independent organisation, founded
in 1892, still with the
same goal, “That through an outdoor lifestyle,
positively affect public
health and quality of life.”
They changed the name to “Björnvallen”
1977 -
Björnvallen was bought by
Sparbanksföreningen, The Swedish
Savings Banks Group. It was primarily used for
the employees and their
families' recreation but others could also come
if there was room
enough.
Britta and Folke Thander leased the venue
between 1954 and 1997 when
their son Jan with wife Anna buys
Björnvallen and develop it
further.
During a couple of years the venue was leased by
Roman and Bianca
Bussem from The Netherlands.
2009 -
Björnvallen is bought by the current owners
that start the
renovation and take it over fully from October
this year.

The accommodation comprises of 17
guest rooms, all of which are
equipped to the same standard,
including en-suite facilities. Our
restaurant is the perfect place to
relax and meet with fellow guests,
also benefit from an international
menu, and for the more adventurous
amongst us, a chance to experience
some of Sweden's finest
traditional
dishes. Once we have satisfied
your hunger, why not relax at our
cosy
bar for a drink with friends,
around an open fire, whilst
reminiscing
over the day's spectacular events
and sceneries.
The activities on offer are wide
and varied. We cater for all
tastes
and levels of adventure, from a
guide to tranquil walks through
one of
the most spectacular landscapes in
Europe, to skiing, snowboarding
and
snowmobiles for the more
adventurous.
The high season during wintertime
is snow safe and full of
possibilities to ski both downhill
at the mountain Välliste and
on
the prepared tracks right on your
doorstep.
The snow mobile tracks passes by
outside the windows and prepared
tracks can bring you all around
the Region of Jämtland, a
surface
10 % bigger than Belgium.
When the 10 ski lifts and 22 ski
pistes at Vällistes becomes
familiar you can always go to the
International Ski pistes at
Åre
18 km away for new challenges.
Just make sure to be back in time
for a
delicious dinner buffet.
Summertime is wandering and
fishing time in the mountain and
the
surroundings. The Unique Swedish
Right of Public Access “gives
us all the
freedom to roam the
countryside. But we must also
take care of nature and
wildlife, and we
must show consideration for
landowners and for other people
enjoying
the countryside. In other words:
Don’t disturb – don’t destroy!”
Fishing
licenses
are also available for the keen
anglers amongst us,
and we can arrange these upon
request.
For the ramblers and explorers
amongst us, late summer is the
perfect
time that you can go picking
blueberries, lingonberries and the
unique
cloudberries and a lot of edible
mushrooms but be sure it is the
right
one!
In close cooperation with our
partners we can offer such
activities as
Riding excursions, kayaking,
mountain climbing and many more.
We also offer a uniue opportunity
to enjoy ‘Sami experiences’ the
year
around. The Sami is an Indigenous
People in Scandinavia with still
strong connections to Reindeer
breeding.
You can also participate in
different courses and even have
the chance
to obtain a hunting liscense, snow
mobile license or get project
management competence. All this
can be tailor made by our team
here,
ensuring you the chance to get all
you could possibly expect from
your
trip, and more, either in a group,
a corporate or just for yourself.
